Energy Drink für den es bekannt ist. Doch seit einiger Zeit bietet Red Bull nun auch in der Organics-Serie diverse Mixer-Getränke wie Ginger Ale, Bitter Lemon und auch ein Tonic Water an, welches zusätzlich noch das BIO-Siegel trägt.
Klingt spannend, sodass ich mir vom Tonic Water mal eine Dose im Supermarkt geschnappt habe, um es zu probieren.

Red Bull selber schreibt zu diesem Tonic Water:

HAMRONISCH SÜSS-SÄUERLICH, HERB UND TROCKEN
Mit Zitronensaftkonzentrat aus biologischer Landwirtschaft und Pflanzenextrakten und Chinin.

RED BULL (Hersteller)

Durch die Zugabe von Bio-Zitronensaftkonzentrat und Bio-Limettensaft hat es eine leicht gelbliche Färbung. Verkauft wird es in 250ml Dosen, wie üblich bei Red Bull.

Wenn man es pur probiert merkt man schon beim Öffnen der Dose am Geruch, dass es nicht wie ein „typisches“ Tonic riecht finde ich. Es hat ein wenig den Duft von Zitronen/Limetten und riecht somit ein wenig Limonadenmäßig.

Geschmacklich ist es relativ bitter, gehört definitiv zu den bittersten Tonics die ich bisher probiert habe. Auch hier kommt wieder die Zitronen- und Limettennote durch, sodass es schwierig ist, es wirklich als „Tonic Water“ zu bezeichnen. Auf jeden Fall ist es mal was ganz anderes und so habe ich es dann mit einem guten Gin (Bombay Saphire) getestet.

Das Ergebnis war interessant, wenn es auch nicht zu meinen Favoriten an Tonics gehören wird. Dafür fehlt mir dann doch ein wenig der Tonic-typische Geschmack, vielleicht auch weil zu Zitronen-lastig und mehr wie Limo, dabei aber recht bitter.
Da Geschmack aber natürlich subjektiv ist, muss hier einfach jeder für sich selber probieren, ob das Tonic Water von Red Bull für ihn in Frage kommt.

Meine Lieblings-Kombination für einen Gin & Tonic mit diesem Tonic Water: Bombay Saphire Gin

MEIN FAZIT ZU DIESEM TONIC

Auf jeden Fall ein spannendes „Tonic Water“, auch wenn es mir persönlich nicht genug nach Tonic schmeckt. Der Kohlensäuregehalt ist eher im mittleren Bereich, nicht ganz so stark spudelnd. Geschmacklich eher Zitronen-lastig, aber durchaus auch mit einem Gin gut zu trinken.
